20.2% high-efficiency module with 4-busbar PERC solar cells and light-guiding structure

In the Module Technologies group, new technologies are being developed for the production and testing of photovoltaic (PV) modules. The focus is on the development of new cost effective technologies for highly efficient, reliable PV modules and the development of measurement techniques to characterize PV modules in the laboratory and in the field.

The close collaboration between solar cell and module development at ISFH enables us to test new solar cells from the outset for module relevant characteristics. This way, new developments are accelerated. We have longtime experience with standard and nonstandard interconnection techniques such as laser soldering, laser welding, contact soldering, ultrasonic soldering, and electrically conductive adhesives. We also support and test the development of new metallizations on the solar cell to ensure connectivity and processability in the solar module from the outset.

We assist you with realizing new concepts for PV modules, with reliability tests of new solar cells inside modules, and testing and reviewing of PV module components. We have developed special methods to gauge the mechanical stability of solar cells inside modules as well as to assess the optical properties of various module components (back sheet, interconnectors, light management structures) inside the module and to evaluate how much they increase the yield.

We offer you the fabrication of special modules that can be used as light sensors or sensor arrays. We are also able to fabricate small modules that can be used to assess the properties of new module components or solar cells inside the module. We offer characterization and testing as services, in cooperation of material or module development, or for certification of solar modules.
