abstract = {We present a performance analysis of the new measurement method Light-Induced Electroluminescence (LIEL) in a PV system. The LIEL method is applied to photovoltaic (PV) modules consisting of two PV module halves which are internally connected in parallel. Today’s main stream half-cell modules are constructed this way. To measure the electroluminescence of one half of the module, the other half is illuminated by an LED array. Our LIEL prototype system is a hood-based setup. It is equipped on one half with a LED array that is separated by a wall from the other half. This other half is observed by an InGaAs camera. We measure the impact of a LIEL hood misalignment to the electroluminescence intensity, the influence of the PV generator working point to the electroluminescence intensity and determine the measurement speed under realistic conditions. We show that the experimentally realized LIEL hood alignment to the PV modules is in 97.7% of the cases sufficient for acquiring high quality EL images. The LIEL system work with a switched off and on inverter. Under inverter on working condition the luminescence intensity is a function of the intensity of the sun. The effect of hood alignment and sun intensity on the luminescence intensity is successfully reproduced by an analogue electronic circuit simulation using LT Spice. The maximum measuring speed of a full module is in this study 12 s including the time for movement and alignment of the measurement hood from PV module to PV module},

abstract = {This study investigates the impact of proton irradiation on perovskite devices fabricated fully through vacuum deposition. Exposure to irradiation induces changes in both electrical and optical properties. The analysis reveals that the main factors influencing the observed performance changes in solar cells are a significant reduction in shunt resistance and a minor increase in series resistance, with minimal alterations in recombination dynamics. Remarkably, the devices maintain promising photodetector characteristics both before and after proton irradiation, particularly in a self-powered mode without a reverse bias. These findings provide valuable insights into the resilience of vacuum-deposited perovskite devices against ionizing radiation, highlighting their potential for applications in radiation-prone environments, such as the nuclear industry or space exploration.},

abstract = {Short measurement time of tens of ms at industrial production leads to high influence of parasitic current on the current voltage (IV) curve characterization. This parasitic current deteriorates the measurement accuracy and should be mitigated. However, most methods, like, e.g., sectional measurement or DragonBackTM, are based on either unpractical long measurement time or sophisticated simulations. We present an algorithm for the generation of voltage sweep for low hysteresis measurement of IV characteristics in high capacitive solar modules. Using one linear voltage sweep-based IV characteristics as input, an optimized nonlinear voltage sweep is generated with our algorithm. While the linear voltage ramp during a 93 ms pulse leads to a hysteresis error at maximum power (ϵPmpp) of 1.46% for a 1-cell heterojunction minimodule and 2.35% for a 120-cells heterojunction solar module, the ϵPmpp with the optimized nonlinear voltage ramp is reduced to 0.38% and 0.48%, respectively. The hysteresis error of short-circuit current (ϵIsc) and hysteresis error of open-circuit voltage (ϵVoc) remain below 0.5% by optimized nonlinear voltage ramp. Thus, all three hysteresis error parameters ϵPmpp, ϵIsc, and ϵVoc fulfill the standard IEC 60904-1 (edition-3).},

abstract = {With the decarbonization of heating sector with temperature-sensitive heat pump, comfort must be considered. For users, comfort is a decisive criterion that can hinder the decision for a supply system using renewable energies. Instantaneous domestic hot water heater pose a particular challenge here, as load changes can easily lead to temperature fluctuations. Therefore, the following study aims to determine the perception of temperature fluctuations during showering and to classify them for an assessment procedure. For this purpose, we carried out tests with 120 persons in a controlled environment. The test subjects showered at their desired temperature and gave direct feedback on imposed temperature fluctuations. Positive and negative changes with different rates of change were examined. We reported clear individual differences in the set desired temperatures as well as in the noticed and tolerated temperature fluctuations. The average desired temperature was 38.5 °C, with a quite large variation of ±5.5 K. While 2 % of the test subjects already noticed fluctuations <0.5 K and found them uncomfortable, for others (≈40 %) deviations of 4 K were still comfortable. Therefore, the resulting evaluation was based on a proportion of dissatisfied subjects according to the procedure described by the ISO 7730. This study represents a first step towards the introduction of standardized assessment of instantaneous water heaters and the comfort criteria would allow a comparison of control quality for different applications.},

abstract = {In this paper we investigate different in situ grown Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD) grown interfacial oxides for n-type polysilicon passivating contacts. We apply SiOx(Ny)/n-type amorphous silicon stacks created from either N2O plasma or O2 plasma to POLO IBC solar cells using our structured deposition process through a glass mask to create the IBC layout. We determine experimentally the impact of plasma exposure time for interfacial oxide growth on solar cell efficiencies. The POLO IBC cell results show that the PECVD oxides SiOxNy and SiOx with optimized plasma exposure time give similar maximum efficiencies of 23.8 % and 23.7 %, respectively. These data demonstrate the feasibility to deposit a high-quality in situ PECVD interfacial SiOx(Ny) layers for surface passivation and current transport of passivated contacts at the same time. For the SiOx/n-type polysilicon stack we find that both, plasma exposure time for interfacial oxide growth or polysilicon anneal temperature variations, can lead to similar optimum of solar cell efficiencies. We analyze the current Voc losses due to metallization for our solar cells and calculate a realistic to achieve efficiency of 25.22 % for an optimized POLO IBC solar cells applying the Synergistic Efficiency Gain Analysis (SEGA) on Quokka3 simulations.
