21st Hamelin Dragon Boat Regatta: The Solar Dragons Paddle Their Way to the Podium
Top performance in research meets peak performance in sports. That’s how our colleagues would probably describe their dragon boat team, which takes part in the annual fun regatta on the Weser River in Hamelin. For weeks before the event, it was time to swap lab coats for water-friendly sports gear and paddle in sync with a 20-person crew after the workday was done.
Team captain Jessica says:
“Of course, it’s a great team-building activity, but above all, it’s just incredibly fun to be in the boat and push yourself to the limit!”
And the results speak for themselves: for the first time in Solar Dragons history, the 250-meter stretch was completed in under 1:11 minutes. Their other race times were also impressive, ultimately earning the team a well-deserved third place in the “Fun Category.”
Congratulations to all team members — and see you next year!
SOLAR – DRAGONS!!!
