LIEL
Ultra-fast PV park inspection using flexible, contactless light-induced electroluminescence
Aug 01, 2021 – Oct 31, 2023
This project is funded by the Central Innovation Program for SMEs of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (funding code: FKZ KK5291101BS1).
Aerial PV Inspection GmbH and the ISFH – Institute for Solar Energy Research Hamelin are working on LIEL, a new type of electroluminescence (EL) inspection method that is used on photovoltaic systems in the field to detect module faults. The PV modules do not have to be supplied with electricity as before, which significantly reduces the effort involved in the measurement.
The joint ZIM research project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). With the LIEL method, the required current is induced into the PV modules without contact using artificial light. This makes it possible to inspect large systems faster and more cost-effectively, regardless of the weather. Contactless methods also allow the development of automated inspection systems.
