The joint ZIM research project was funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) under grant number KK5291103SY2.

MBJ Solutions GmbH, Solarcleano and the ISFH – Institute for Solar Energy Research Hamelin are working on inspection methods for cleaning robots. We identify the best way to combine visual-, thermographic- and luminescence inspection into a cleaning robot and automatize the defect detection. MBJ Solution and ISFH developed within the project called “PV-Detects” a new method and tool to do luminescence inspections of PV modules under daylight and during normal operation of the solar power system. No rewiring or shut down of the PV system is needed. The tool enables to detect solar cell defects, wiring problems and not connected bypass diodes (safety element in PV modules), which is not detectable by visual- and thermographic inspection.
