Solvent-free high-rate perovskites using industry-relevant processes

This project is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) under grant number 03EE1272A.

In the HOPP project, the partners are collaborating to develop a solvent-free, high-throughput industrial perovskite manufacturing process. The previous rate limitation in vacuum-based processes will be addressed by combining two innovative processes: close-space sublimation, used for the first time for inorganic perovskite components, and gas phase transport deposition of organic components to create a solvent-free „PVD2VTD“ process. Building on promising preliminary results with unique characteristics, the ISFH is transferring the most powerful process variant from the "silicon world" in terms of cost reduction, batch processing, with comparatively short process times, to perovskite production using VTD for the first time. The aim is to achieve a technology readiness level of at least 5. Process control and reproducibility are to be improved through the use of advanced in-situ measurement methods. Based on this, machine learning methods for process optimisation are being evaluated for vacuum-based perovskite deposition.
