The Photovoltaics special module production group develops cost-efficient technologies and flexible manufacturing processes for the production of customized PV modules, particularly for special applications that go beyond the capabilities of standard modules. The goal is to unlock new applications and surfaces for renewable energy generation.

A key strength of the group lies in its long-standing expertise in interconnection processes: a wide range of technologies is available for reliably connecting solar cells electrically—including infrared, induction, hot-air, contact, and ultrasonic soldering, laser welding, and conductive adhesive bonding.

In addition, we accompany the development of new solar cell concepts and advancements at the cell level to ensure their compatibility and reliability within modules from an early stage.

Our module-level expertise, combined with close collaboration across other ISFH research groups, enables us to address the entire development chain—from the solar cell to system integration.

Close cooperation with industry partners ensures a practical, application-driven approach with direct relevance to large-scale production.
