In our previous project NanoPERC (FKZ 03EE1012A), we successfully developed the POLO back junction (BJ) solar cell technology for the first time worldwide. In this project, we plan to optimize the POLO BJ technology for future investors and verify its potential for further improvements. ISFH focuses on the development of cell and module technologies, in particular: (i) development of a base technology for manufacturing POLO BJ solar cells using industrially tried-and-tested equipment and processes in order to realize a target efficiency beyond 24 % with a leaner process sequence than the mainstream PERC technology; (ii) demonstration of a base technology for a POLO BJ module with a target efficiency of 23 %; (iii) Development of an Ag-free POLO BJ solar cell with an efficiency beyond 22 %.
