At this year’s annual conference, the ForschungsVerbund Erneuerbare Energien (Research Association for Renewable Energies) presented “Recommendations for research funding in the field of photovoltaics”. This position paper, which was prepared under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. -Ing. Rolf Brendel, the managing director of ISFH, emphasizes the importance of PV research for successful products and highlights the potential of the growth markets PV and PV research.
The central recommendation from the position paper is as follows: “PV research should be viewed as a long-term investment and should not be oriented towards short-term market movements. In the long term, PV research will ensure affordable and environmentally friendly electricity supply in Germany and throughout the world. This requires a sustained intensive and wide-ranging public research funding for applied and basic research and the further development of photovoltaics. A strong domestic market supports the innovative power of domestic companies.”
