Subproject: Evaluation of reliability of PV modules

The aim of the project is to support market participants in optimizing the operation and reliability of PV systems as well as to improve the quality of systems and their components. To this end, operational data of different PV systems in various climates will be collected to obtain well-founded information on reliability and yield. In addition, financing schemes for PV systems will be compared and it will be reviewed to what extent economic assessments agree with technical realities (yield, failures). Within the Photovoltaic Power Systems programme of the International Energy Agency there exists a program of 25 partners from 15 countries titled “Performance and Reliability of Photovoltaics Systems”. The goal of “Task 13” is to generate technical reports and best practice manuals based on data and findings from the participating countries and to present the results at workshops and user forums. The successful work of this task will be continued in the timeframe 2014 to 2017. The focus points are: 1) economic assessment of PV systems, 2) performance and analysis of PV systems, 3) characterization and reliability of PV modules, 4) preparation and presentation of data (workshops, reports), and 5) leadership and coordination of the international consortium.
