Abstract:
The impact of the optoelectronic properties of electron- and hole-selective contacts on the performance of perovskite–silicon tandem solar cells is discussed. For electron-selective contacts, an ultrathin C₆₀ layer is explored to reduce parasitic absorption while maintaining efficient charge extraction. For hole-selective contacts, the influence of band alignment between self-assembled monolayers and perovskite on open-circuit voltage (Voc) and fill factor (FF) is quantitatively analyzed and experimentally validated, revealing a Voc–FF tradeoff that defines an optimal band alignment. In addition, surface modification of the hole-selective contact is used to improve wettability and perovskite coverage on textured silicon substrates. These results provide design guidelines for reducing optical and electrical losses for highly efficient perovskite–silicon tandem solar cells.
